The Middletown Police Department is saddened to announce the passing of retired Chief Donald L. Homen. Chief Homen joined the department in 1953 after serving in the U.S. Army Reserve. He rose through the ranks and was promoted to Chief in 1963. He was a graduate of the F.B.I. NA 76th Class and Past President of the R.I. Police Chief’s Association. After his retirement in 1978 he served as Director of Security of Clarendon Court in Newport.

Two MPD Officers in full dress uniform will stand at the casket for the calling hours

There will be a law enforcement walk-through at 1:00 PM. Officers are to assemble on Fowler St. adjacent to Memorial Funeral Home at 12:30 PM. Uniform for MPD personnel will be long sleeve shirt and tie.

Funeral service
A private burial will be held at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston R.I. on Monday, July 6th at 11:00 AM

Two MPD Officer will be assigned as escorts to the Memorial Park. Uniform will be long sleeves and tie and Officers will report to the Memorial Funeral Home at 9:00 AM.

Town Council Meeting of Monday, July 6th at 7:00 PM

At the request of Council President Robert Sylvia the MPD Honor Guard will present the colors in honor of Chief Homen at the beginning of the meeting. Lt Faria will coordinate the appearance of the Honor Guard.
