The Town of Suffield, Connecticut, is seeking experienced candidates for the position of Chief of Police.

Suffield, located in the Connecticut Valley remains immersed in historic a richness. Main Street, a designated historic district with the Green, three churches, Suffield Academy and vintage colonial and Victorian homes, typifies a New England town.  Since the earliest days, the tobacco industry has been the greatest single continuing commercial enterprise in Suffield.

The Connecticut River banks are laced by shadblow trees, and fishermen converge along its shores to test their skill and luck during the shad run.

The Town of Suffield has a duly elected Police Commission, Kevin Armata, Chairman and “the power of appointment, promotion and removal of police officers is exclusively reserved to the commissioners. 31 CS 87. Cited. 31 CS 145.”

The Suffield Police Department is comprised of 22 police officers and 6 civilians.  It is headquartered in a state-of-the-art, police facility.

Candidates for the position of Suffield Police Chief must possess unquestioned integrity, a thorough knowledge of police administration, and proven management and leadership skills. Minimum requirements: 15 years police experience, current rank of lieutenant (or comparable level) or above, 10 years of progressive supervisory experience. A Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public or business administration, or a closelyrelated field is required.  Successful candidate will be required to live within 25 miles of the Town of Suffield.
