The Town of Enfield, NH, is accepting applications for the full-time position of Police Chief.
Enfield is a community of approximately 4,600 permanent residents (the population increases
substantially during the summer months), situated in the Upper Valley Region approximately 15
minutes from the population centers of Lebanon and Hanover (home of Dartmouth College and
the renowned Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center). With a wide range of local businesses, a
high-performing elementary school, a proud and extensive Shaker cultural heritage, two large
scenic lakes, and an abundance of open space, Enfield is a special community.

The Police Chief reports directly to the Town Manager and oversees a department of eight full-
time employees and two part-time with an annual operating budget of approximately $720,000.
Current department personnel includes two FT sergeants, four FT patrol officers, one PT patrol
officer, a FT administrative assistant, and a PT school crossing guard/police assistant. The Police
Chief also serves as the Emergency Management Director for the Town. Although the position is
largely administrative and supervisory in nature, Enfield has a “working chief” who completes
patrols and responds to calls on a regular basis.

Applicants must be FT certified, or be able to obtain certification as a full-time officer in NH
within one year of hire. College degree with ten years of progressively responsible police
experience, including administrative and supervisory experience, or equivalent combination of
education and experience. Anticipated hiring range is $82,500 to $87,500 plus excellent
benefits.Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The Town of Enfield is an
