POLICE CHIEF
Town of Tisbury, Massachusetts

The Town of Tisbury (year round population 4,627) on the Island of Martha’s Vineyard (with a summer
population of over 94,000) and the principal year round port for the island is seeking its next full-time
Police Chief following the retirement of the current Chief. Governed by a three-member Board of
Selectmen, the Police Chief oversees a $ 1,991,017 budget for a department that is staffed by the chief,
up to 14 highly qualified full time sworn officers, and part time-seasonal sworn special officers and
traffic officers.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration or a
related field (with a Master’s Degree preferred) and ten (10) years of law enforcement experience with
a history of progressively increasing responsibilities that include serving in supervisory and management
positions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have, or be able to obtain,
certification as a MA full-time Police Officer. Applicant must pass all pre-employment background
checks. An independent assessment consultant will be utilized to determined qualified candidates.
