POLICE CHIEF
STRATHAM, NH

The Town of Stratham, New Hampshire (population 7405) is seeking an experienced, responsive,
progressive leader to serve as its next police chief. Stratham, a politically and financially stable
community is located in the Seacoast region of the state, just minutes from the beaches and shoreline.
Just 50 miles north of Boston, MA and 30 miles east of Manchester, it is an easy commute to all the
cultural, educational and medical resources of the Greater Boston area. The Town has a thriving
business/commercial presence which includes the headquarters of several multi-national corporations
such as Lindt & Sprugli (USA), Timberland and Bauer Hockey. Stratham is proud of the quality of life,
close knit “small town” feel, excellent schools and municipal services it provides to the community. The
Chief will lead a progressive department of 11 full-time officers, an administrative assistant and a
prosecutor. Under the general guidance and direction of the Town Administrator and the Board of
Selectmen, the Chief oversees an annual budget of just over $1.1 million. Given the size of the
community, in addition to the typical work expected of this position, the Chief will be expected to take a
hands-on role as necessary. The Chief is a member of the Town’s management team and works closely
with other local, regional, and state agencies. Ideal candidates should possess demonstrated leadership
skills, excellent communication skills, high integrity, and the ability to promote and lead an organization
towards community service. Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related
field. Master’s degree and/or FBI National Academy preferred. Ten (10) years progressively responsible
work in law enforcement. Five (5) years command experience preferred, or an equivalent combination
of education and experience may be considered. Applicants must be able to meet the minimum
certification requirements for a full-time police officer, including physical fitness, as established by the
New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council (NHPSTC). Salary range: $90,000-$100,000.
Starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent benefits package. (This is an
