The Town of Rutland, Massachusetts (pop. 8,800) seeks qualified applicants for the position of Police Chief. The Chief is appointed by the Town Administrator subject to confirmation by the Board of Selectmen, and is the chief administrative officer of the police department, overseeing all matters of fiscal management, policy, rules and regulations, procedures, operations, planning, staffing, discipline, enforcement of all laws and by-laws within the town’s legal jurisdiction, and coordination with outside agencies/departments on police matters. In accordance with MGL c.41, s.97, the Chief exercises all lawful powers of the office and issues such lawful orders as are necessary to assure the effective performance of the department. The Police Chief also oversees the regional emergency communications center and regional animal control program. Salary to $100,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
