We regret to inform you of the passing of Retired Police Chief, Robert Raymond Cudak, Westminster Police Department who died on May 4, 2018.
Westminster-Retired Police Chief, Robert Raymond Cudak, 78, died at his home on May 4, 2018, after an illness.
His wife of 47 years, Thelma G. (Codding) Cudak died May 5, 2005.
He leaves three sons, Robert V. Cudak and his wife Lisa of Gardner, Philip M. Cudak of Webster and Karl W. Cudak and his wife Barbara of Westminster; his adopted Russian daughter, Lilia Arsenault and her husband Mike and their daughter Polina of Westminster; five grandchildren, Gina L. Cudak of Gardner, Nicole Bielicki of Franklin, Joshua Cudak, Michael Cudak and Karlene Cudak all of Westminster: three great-grandchildren, Anthony Lewis, Avery Lewis and Adrianna Justis; three half-brothers, Dennis Smith of Framingham, Edwin Smith of Medway and Walter Smith of Uxbridge and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by a great-grandson, Adrian Lewis on November 10, 2006.
Bob was born in Framingham, a son of the late William and Anelia (Kostra) Cudak. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1957. Bob received a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University. He started his working life as a carpenter and was a member of the Local 87 Carpenters Unions. He began his career as a police officer in Bellingham from 1963-1972. He then became the Chief in Westminster in 1972 and retired in 2003 after 31 years.
Bob attended the 109th session of the FBI National Academy. He was a member of the I.A.C.P., the Mass Chiefs Association, the Central Mass Chiefs Association where he served as past president and the board of directors, the New England Chiefs Association, the New England Narcotics Officers Association, the former Ashburnham-Westminster Rotary Club and served as Past president and on many boards and a longtime member and past president of the Westminster Town Benefit, “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”.
His funeral will be held from the Westminster Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes on Friday, May 11, 2018 with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Edward the Confessor Church.
Burial will be at a later date in Woodside Cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home
