South Hadley, MA (17,740 pop.), is seeking a progressive, proactive law enforcement professional with a proven record of leadership to serve as its next police chief. The Police Chief oversees a department of 28 FT officers, full and part time dispatchers and administrative staff.
South Hadley is a progressive community located approximately 95 miles west of Boston and is the home to Mount Holyoke College, a liberal arts college for women. It is governed by a five member Selectboard and managed by a Town Administrator.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree, with a Master’s Degree preferred, in criminal justice, law enforcement, public administration or related field; and ten or more years of progressively responsible experience with at least five or more years of increasingly responsible command experience and a valid MA motor vehicle operator’s license and license to carry fire arms. Applicant must pass all pre-employment background checks.
