The Town of Litchfield, NH is seeking a full-time, community-oriented Police Chief to lead this full-service police department (approx. budget $1.9M) consisting of 14 sworn full-time officers, 3 part-time officers, and 3 non-sworn support staff; Litchfield police contract emergency communications through a regional dispatch center overnight and weekends. With approximately 8,500 residents, Litchfield is a quintessential New England community on the Merrimack River in New Hampshire’s Merrimack Valley. With easy access to Routes 3, 3A, and I-93, Litchfield is just minutes from Manchester, 50 miles north of Boston; and easy travel to the Seacoast, Lakes Region, and White Mountains. Litchfield is governed by the open town meeting form of government and is led by a Town Administrator and a five-member Selectboard. A bachelor’s degree is required. Ten years responsible law enforcement with a minimum of three in supervisory, command and administrative positions, or any equivalent combination of education, advanced leadership training, and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required.
