The Town of Duxbury, MA is seeking a progressive, community-oriented Police Chief to lead this full-service police department (approx. budget $3.9M) consisting of 34 sworn full-time officers, 8 Special Officers, and two non-sworn support staff; Duxbury police contract emergency communications through a regional dispatch center. With approximately 16,000 residents, Duxbury is a quintessential New England community on Cape Cod Bay on the South Shore. With easy access to Routes 3 and 3A, Duxbury is just 35 miles south of Boston; and 26 miles from the Sagamore Bridge and Cape Cod. Duxbury is governed by the open town meeting form of government and is led by a Town Manager and a five-member Selectboard. A bachelor’s degree is preferred. At least ten years progressively responsible law enforcement with at least five years in supervisory, command and administrative positions, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required. Total compensation, including salary of $175,000 +/-, negotiated by contract commensurate with qualifications.
